Well, I told you to come to the RAW event on Friday and just like I said it would be, it was pretty amazing. Another great crowd came out to support Cleveland’s talented artists and thriving art scene. Complete with a performance from DJ $crilla & Lauren Lanzaretta as well as a fashion show with designs by Jasmine Williams, not to mention a hand full of amazing painters, drawers and photographers, the event fantastic.

Seriously, if you are at all into music, art, fashion or all of the above, make a point to get out and get to a RAW show, it is well worth your time. Keep posted HERE for upcoming shows and info.

Here are a few shots from the other night.

Wednesday Wants #5

Sorry I missed last week, lots going on here… One week is excusable but two in a row is not, so sticking with the time telling devices this week, I give you the coolest way to charge your iPhone/make sure you wake up on time.

Simply run you charge cord through the box and plug in on the other side and boom, you have an old school clock with a new school purpose. There is a free app to download as well, but you should know how to do that, after all you are reading a blog. I just like how simple and classic this looks and as soon as I get moved in to the new place, you can bet that this will be next to my bed. If you too would like one check them out HERE, not only are they cool, they are really inexpensive.

I have a clock radio next to my bed now that does nothing except keep bad time, with this at least I will charge my phone and know that what the clock says is pretty reliable. Plus if the power goes out, no big deal, you are waking up on time because the alarm is still going off, not just blinking 12:00.

So there it is, you have no more excuses for over sleeping.

RAW Cleveland-The Blend

A few weeks I posted about RAW Artists a project here in Cleveland that I was helping out with. If you were at all intrigued by that post and upset you missed the event, well here is your chance. This Friday the next event in the RAW series will go down at the 620 Club. The Blend is what it is being called and if it is half the show of last month, you will have a great time.

Last month saw over 500 guests came through the 620 Club which is a great venue,

some entertaining musical guests,

too much great art to show here, but I had to at least show the gameboy dress…

It should be a great time and sadly will be my last show as Anne and I are moving to Colorado at the end of the month. So this is my finale and I am sure it will be a good one. For more pictures of last months event, click HERE. Hope to see you at the show this Friday, make sure to say hi.

Wednesday Wants #4

Ok, this weeks is a little on the extravagant end, but it is something I really like.

So my opinion on jewelry for men is limit it. A wedding ring(if applicable) and a watch, every now and again I run a jade bracelet that I got in China but past that you are in a territory I just don’t get into. That being said, I already have a wedding band which I plan on having for the next 50 years or so and I have the jade thing when needed, thus the only other area to get creative is the watch department. Currently, I own a few Nixon watches, which I love. They have a unique style, they run well and I always get complements. I am very happy with my Nixons, nevertheless, one day I would like to graduate from the watch department into the “timepiece”. If I were to make it into the timepiece tax bracket my choice would be to go with a Panerai. Rolex is an easy goto, and there are a few others like Bell Ross that I like, but with Italian design and Swiss guts, Panerai brings the best of both worlds with a classic look. The vintage ones are amazing and some of those go for 6 figures… I am not kidding myself, I know the only thing I will ever drop 6 figures on is a home, but still they are nice to look at. The new ones retain that classic look and you can pick one up starting in the mid 4 figures, still a lot, but also something that you will more then likely give your kid one day(if you really like them). At any rate, you will know when I have made it when you see me rocking one of these some day.

Brekk

This is Brekk. It was his first birthday this weekend. There was a party for the momentous occasion and I happen to have shot photos of the party. Do what Brekk wants otherwise he is liable to drop this lip on you and make you feel like a really bad person. After all it was his day… Keep it classy Brekk.

RAW Cleveland

I am helping out with a project here in Cleveland called RAW. The project itself is all about the local underground art scene and trying to give new artists a forum to show their works off. There are a bunch of chapters of RAW all throughout the country but the Cleveland one is the newest.

The first event was this past Friday night and the place was packed. Amazing to see all the different artists in a variety of mediums, also amazing to see the amount of people who came out to support as the venue was packed.

At any rate, I shot the event photos which will be posted soon, but here is a preview with some of the fashion shoot… If you are interested there will be another RAW event on May 18th, check the website for more info.

Wednesday Wants #3

This one just came across my desk in a e-mail yesterday from Patagonia. Don’t get me wrong it was not a e-mail from Yvon Chouinard or anything like that, just an advertisement e-mail, but cool nevertheless.

Backstory… Aaron Draplin is a designer who, for lack of a better descriptive, is awesome. He is Midwest through and through and he has worked on some of the coolest projects in snowboarding and outdoors, including Coal Headwear, the Union Binding Company, Snowboard Magazine, Field Notes memo books, Ride Snowboards, Forum Snowboards, Grenade Gloves, Cobra Dogs, Absinthe Films, NemoDesign, and Gnu Snowboards just to name a few… His company Draplin Design Co or DDC is on my list of cool links to visit on the right side of this page, so check it out. Always full of vintage logos and cool stuff Draplin finds along his way. I have never been lucky enough to meet him, but he always comes across as a cool guy and easily excitable as can be seen in this clip…

The Field Notes project is awesome and although I am a Moleskine guy, I plan to switch soon. In fact, I had planned on doing a Wednesday Wants on just the Field Notes, so give those a look.

At any rate, as you can tell from that video, Draplin is real people and good people. Thus my excitement to see that he had designed shirts for one of my other favorite companies, Patagonia. Simple classic designs on simple classic t-shirts. In this man’s opinion, it doesn’t get much better.

Lets be clear, I would rather the designer of my shirts to look like this…

As opposed to this…

Again, just this man’s opinion.
